How to Get Help For Stress and Addiction Without Losing Your Dignity and Respect
October 11, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Hi,
I am Linda Larson Schlitz and this is my website and event. When I first realized I had a “problem” I didn’t feel like I could tell anyone at work or church. After all I was a leader there and a professional counselor in the community. It was hard enough to face God and be honest about my struggle let alone the people who I knew, or at least assumed, would judge me. So I stuffed it for a long time.
Eventually I had to face the truth. My drinking had been “noticed” by one of my clients and it could have been a really bad ending. I knew I had ADHD and also struggled with anxiety/depression that was later diagnosed as hypo-mania type II Bi-Polar disorder. I felt alone and I don’t want anyone else to feel like they have to pretend anymore.
In this webinar you will
- learn that you aren’t a weirdo or awful person because anxiety, depression and self medicating are normal human reactions to stressful things…for example… a pandemic!
- how not to spiral down into a shame pile when you don’t succeed at changing your behaviors and experience joy in the journey
- discover where to get the best tools and support for your recovery and overcome the fear of taking advantage of them
- how to face those you have been hiding from, lying to, stealing from or being mean to because you didn’t know how else to deal with this
- learn how to live step 11 “praying only for the knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry that out”
